ICARE: Sugar!

Batangas is sugar cane country. Fields of the double overhead cane were all over the place. While sugar can has basically been replaced by corn sweeteners in the States, sugar cane is still used in the Filipins for seetener and processed into all sorts of other things.

Sugar cane fields. The cane grows up to 10 feet high.

Trucks stacked full of cut sugar cane ply the roads of Batangas. Here they are lined up at a processing plant waiting to unload.
